OUR 2014

As many regular readers of this site will know, Pete and I had decided to close RRT as the beginning of last December, as the kennels we use is being redeveloped, and we could not find another kennels that can offer us the exercise and training facilities that we have at our present kennels. However, the planning permission is taking longer than expected, so we are still open for business, until such time that the kennels is closed down.

This year has been busy, as usual. There seem to be more outside dogs needing help, and many of them are old. The endless stream of puppies seems to be slowing down a bit, which is very good news.

We have rehomed 46 dogs……which include Boris the Staffie and two Chihuahuas! Most pleasing is that 7 of these dogs were 7 or over when they came into our care. Pete and I find these older dogs so rewarding to rehome….to give an older dog a happy life gives us a feeling second to none!

Last year we set up a Facebook page, and after a slow start, we now have over 1,400 members. Unfortunately, the Facebook page has only found two of our dogs’ good homes. In November, we held our first Facebook Auction……which despite only having about 200 members, raised an astounding £2,400 for RRT.

The Auction site is running for a couple of weeks this month (January) so do ask to join if you are on Facebook. Simply put RRT Auction into the search bar on Facebook and ask to join!

We have had two dogs returned to us this year. One was a lovely old bitch of 8, who we had rehomed when she was two. The family’s circumstances had changed. The other was a lively young bitch, who was over exuberant with the couple’s child, and was mouthing and jumping up.

So we start the new year as we always do…..with some dogs in kennels, lots of phone calls and high hopes that one day there will be no need for RRT to even exist

Lovely RRT boy Buzz has moved to Scotland with Ruth and mac. He is very much loved and is enjoying his new life in Scotland and making lots of new friends!
