05.09.10

We have just had an email from Mike and Fiona, the proud owners of Ronnie, one of our RRT dogs....

Hi Shelley & Peter,

Just a quick update from the Ronnie camp.

On Sunday Fiona ran in a 5k run in Hyde Park for the charity Jeans for Genes. We all (including Ronnie) went along to add our support. When we arrived Ronnie was flooded with compliments about how handsome he is & how well behaved etc (we are very used to this as it is a regular response we get when out with our boy). To cut a long story short, Ronnie was asked if he would like to be the official mascot for the charity. He seemed ok with this, although not that happy about the t-shirt.

However, once even more adoring fans came to him he felt much more comfortable with his new found fame.

Please find attached a couple of pics.

Bye for now & see you soon.

Mike & family

what a little star!

Our Lorraine went to a Companion Dog Show last week, simply to socialise Dennis, her RRT dog. Dennis not only behaved beautifully, but picked up the cup for Best Rescue dog too!

WELL DONE DENNIS AND LORRAINE - WE ARE VERY PROUD OF YOU!

16.07.10

For those of you who regularly visit this site, it may seem as though some of the dogs we have in have been with us for a longer time than usual. There are  several reasons for this. Firstly, we have not had very many calls from people who want to take a rescue rottweiler. Whether this is due to the recession and financial/work commitments or the time of year we are unsure, but it is quite worrying. Secondly, we do not take in "perfect" dogs. Of the homes we are being offered, most will have other dogs/cats and little or no experience of taking on a dog that has some behaviour/training issues. Thirdly, we have had a couple of dogs who have needed vet treatment and TLC before they can be rehomed. Please do not stop visiting the site - we are really trying to find these dogs good permenant homes with loving families....it just takes more time than we would like it to.

12.07.10.

Yesterday we took the stand to Foal Farm's open day. The weather was glorious, hot and sunny but with a breeze that really helped the dogs to keep cool. The day was well attended, and there were some interesting stands and displays.

Our own stand was manned by Peter Reynolds, Jackie McPhail, Ali Stimpson and Jessie, Ali's daughter. Peter and I went along to chat to people and answer any questions about the dogs we have in at the moment, or more general questions about our breed. We had quite a lot of general interest, but nothing about any particular dog we have in, however, I hope we gave the general public a good impression of our breed.

Several of our "ex" rescue dogs attended, and helped to show our breed in a very positive light. They were all stars in thir own right - friendly to both people and other dogs, and not phased by the ferrets being walked around on leads!

Our star dogs yesterday were *BRUCIE BABY*, *JADE*,* BAILEY*,

*BARNEY* and *CLEO*. We did a tombola and a raffle, which raised

                     £125

and with the teeshirts we sold we raised anoher £35. So, a good fun day was had by everyone...it would be nice to see more of you next year.

JACOB

Myself and my husband have had rotties for many years and many of them were rescues, so when our dearly loved male, Sam passed away, Mr Sam to his friends, we decided to get another.  We hunted high and low and finally we met Peter and Shelly, whom I think rescued us because we were losing heart with the troubles of trying to find a dog. We met Jacob and after an assessment we brought him home. He fitted in immediately and absolutely loved my husband, they went everywhere together.

Early one morning my husband got up and then came rushing to find me. “There’s something wrong with Jacob.” Jacob was completely paralyzed in his back legs. We telephoned Peter, and the vet. The vet came to the house and it was impossible to move Jacob. After some discussion,  Jacob had to be put to sleep. There was nothing anyone could do as he was in a lot of pain and getting very anxious. The vet felt he had cancer of the spine. Needless to say we were all devastated. My husband couldn’t speak to Peter and vice versa. They were just too upset, it was such a shock.

We had had a brilliant time as a family over the week end. Jacob had played and was full of the joys of spring. He had displayed no signs of discomfort at all. At least we can be glad of that. We did not have Jacob very long but we are so glad that we had the privilege of knowing him at all. This very noble, proud, and loving rotty. Would we have him again? You bet we would.

Kim and Nick Oddy

Kim and Nick had only had Jacob for a few weeks. We had taken him from a family who was being evicted. He was only 5 years old, and was a super, loving boy.

"HELP", we need somebody, "HELP", not

just anybody.... "HELP" you know we need

someone.........

             HELP!

We are urgently seeking fundraisers for Rottweiler Rescue Trust. We do not want to ask our regular supporters but would like to find some new support for this lovely breed.

We are offered so many dogs each day and cannot do anything to help them, partly due to lack of funds.

We are looking for someone with some new and exciting ideas to try and raise much needed funds for the dogs. In four years we have had over 100,000 hits. (people looking at the site) If every person who looked at this site put 50 pence in every time they had a look, think how many dogs we could have helped!

There are so many people out there who love this breed, look on the website and say " ah" isn't that a shame? ...but do not do anything about it. Come on folks, WAKE UP, we cannot survive without support.

MESSAGE FOR ALL BREEDERS - WE ARE STILL MORE THAN HAPPY TO PUT YOUR DETAILS ON OUR WEB PAGE IF YOU TAKE YOUR DOGS BACK FOR LIFE...WE HAVEN'T HAD MANY BREEDERS CONTACTING US THOUGH!

PLEASE REMEMBER - IT IS NOT OUR JOB TO CONTACT YOU AND ASK YOU IF YOU TAKE YOUR DOGS BACK, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CONTACT US AND LET US KNOW.

MESSAGE FOR ANYONE THINKING OF BREEDING  - ROTTWEILERS ARE NOT WORTH ANYTHING BECAUSE THE MARKET HAS BEEN FLOODED AND MANY ROTTWEILER BREEDERS ARE STARTING TO BREED OTHER DOGS TO MAKE THEIR MONEY.

PLEASE SEND US YOUR COMMENTS - WE

DO WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU.
